There's no easy way to come back home and the way back home is never that easy.
I want to go back to Bali.
When I see the surprised faces of my loved ones, I start to wonder:
Is it that far?
I read A Fortune-Teller Told Me by Tiziano Terzani (1938), it says:
"...the train journey, with its ample time and cramped space,
reanimates an atrophied curiosity about details.
You give keener attention to what lies around you, to what hurtles past the window."
Perhaps I could better understand
the distance traveling this way: Trans-Siberian Railway.
A network of railways crossing Russia, Mongolia and China.
More precisely, I would travel by the Trans-Mongolian Railway,
which connects Moscow to Beijing.
And from Beijing on?
There will be typical asian means of transportation: lots of carts, mules, tuk-tuk,
tourist buses with or without A/C, rickshaws, bamboo rafts, small boats etc.
I could even write: a travel journal.
But why should I do that?
I find an old diary:
"I can write only when I read.
The other writers' words fill me and my imagination.
As a journey, their words fulfil mine.
As a train, they stimulate my brain to create words.
Who knows, one day I could be somebody else's train." (12/08/2012)
I could make a project.
But can I do this on my own?
In doubt, I call some friends:
Eddie/Video
Luca/Music
Giada/Map
Marta/Designer
Francesco/Logo
Silvia/English version
They answer, and their answer is Yes.
How could I pay them?
I could give them a present from my journey.
Something related to a habit, a fancy, a smile of them.
Who shall I dedicate this project to?
To a good man, Rodolfo Gentile.
Such a shame that Samuel Beckett is still waiting for Godot.
Maybe I could meet him in Mongolia.
Stay tuned.
